Over 1,000 beneficiaries of the Federal Government N-Power programme in Akoko South West Local Government Area of Ondo State at the weekend staged an eight-hour solidarity rally in support of the re-election bid of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The beneficiaries, who converged on Oba-Akoko junction, carried out a house-to-house campaign of the area.

They pleaded with the residents to re-elect President Buhari because of the laudable programmes his administration had executed in the last three and a half years.

They went round in hired buses, private cars and many commercial motorcycles through Oba-Akoko, Supare, Ikun, Ayegunle, and terminated at Oka-Akoko, a distance of about eight kilometres.

Their T-shirts carried the message: “We are beneficiaries of N-Power programme.”

According to the coordinators of the rally, Ogunwode Femi Innocent and Kola Omosanyin, who addressed reporters, the rally was aimed at expressing gratitude tothe Federal Government for introducing the programme.

Recruiting Npower volunteers without proper training is counterproductive ~ NUT

2/03/2019 09:16:00 AM

President of the Nigerian Union of Teacher (NUT), Nasir Idris, at the union's annual solemn assembly on Sunday, claimed that the idea of recruiting young men and women as teachers under the auspices of Npower to work for just two years without adequate training is counterproductive while arguing that some may even be engaged in double jobs and other related activities.

How FG is planning to take Npower to the next level

2/03/2019 01:15:00 AM

We plan to enhance the continued development of the existing beneficiaries, linking them to further economic opportunities whilst also expanding the Programme to take in more people. The Technology Innovation Programmes and the Skills Competency Programmes will also be expanded and scaled up.

On the sustainability of Social Investment programme:

"A credible Social Investment safety net as we have demonstrated is what every country must have in place for her people. It is not negotiable, if we desire to attain the stability and competitiveness of developed nations. Firstly, scripture teaches us from the foundation that there would always be poor people, so we must have a safety net for our poor and vulnerable.
Secondly, life is about ups and downs, as such, we must design a merit system that offers lifeline to our youths to pick up in life."

How fair the programme is:
Perhaps what is most fascinating and yet most troubling to the opposition is the process of transparency and equal access to everyone. These programmes and investment are not distributed through political nor religious patronage, but every interested Nigerian is able to apply and benefit with out knowing anyone, I mean anyone. This dividends of their democracy reaches down to every Nigerian regardless of the political party in the state, otherwise how do you explain that Rivers State, though a PDP-controlled State, got the highest number of N-Power Batch 1 beneficiaries simply because the highest number of applications came from the State. The question to ask is, did Nigeria ever saw this manner of fairness and inclusion in the 16 years of PDP? We know what they did with SURE-P where they say they spent over N500 billion for only 150,000 beneficiaries in the country and we in N-Power have invested about N150 billion as at December 2018 for over 500,000 genuine and identifiable beneficiaries, that is 30 per cent of what they spent for over 200 per cent more beneficiaries that they claim. If this is not doing more with less, you tell me what it is…that is what President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo stand for and represent.

Several sub-components and sub-division of Npower:
Graduate N-Power for unemployed young graduates with focus on full time paid volunteering in their various communities of residence be it at public schools (N-Teach), rural farms (N-Agro), primary health facilities (N-Health) and as community tax advocacy liaisons (N-Tax). These are 500,000 across the country in every 774 LGA earning N30,000 every month plus a computing tablet device.
Non-Graduate N-Power, which is our Skills to Entrepreneurship Programme that is reviving our Apprenticeship culture through Vocational and Technical Skills revolution. Engaging about 50,000 young Nigerians across Construction, Automobile, Hospitality, Technology Hardware & Software industries. Each beneficiary of this component obtains an exit tool kit valued no less than N250,000 in addition to a transport support stipend of N10,000 monthly whilst in the Programme.

Nigeria Police Academy (Wudil Kano) 2019 massive recruitment

1/30/2019 02:57:00 PM

INTRODUCTION : - The origin of the Nigeria Police Academy dates back to the early 80s when the Government of Nigeria in 1981 requested the British Government to make available to Nigeria, some united Kingdom Police officers to assess the training needs of the Nigeria Police. In response to this request, a team of three British Police officers led by M.A. H Pacy ( Assistant Chief Constable, Hamberside Police) was sent to Nigeria by the British Government. The team submitted its report known as the pacy report in 1982. This report was formally published as the white paper of the Federal Republic, of Nigeria, on the future training needs of the Nigeria Police Force. A follow up of recommendations of the pacy report led to the search for the best training orientation for the Nigeria Police. In 1986, the then Inspector General of Police Alhaji Mohammed A. Gambo rtd, sent a delegation of three Nigeria Police officers led by late S.Z. Daura (Assistant Inspector General) to Egypt to under study the Egyptian Police Academy. The report and recommendations of these two teams of experts had far reaching effects in laying the foundation for the establishment of the Nigeria Police Academy, kano to serve as an institution for high level manpower development, with a mission to train police officers to acquire the highest standards of professionalism. The Academy officially took off simultaneously in 1988 at two temporary campuses; the Police training school Challawa, Kano where cadet Inspectors were trained; and the Police college Kaduna, where cadet ASPs were trained. The two campuses were merged and relocated to its permanent site in Wudil, Kano, after its was formerly Commissioned on the 2nd April,1996, by then Head of State and Commander in Chief of the Armed forces, General Sani Abacha, GCON, dss, mni., with the expectation that the Academy will be affiliated to a University for degree awarding courses. Discontinue Npower - NUT urges FG

1/29/2019 11:36:00 AM

The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) on Tuesday called Federal Government to scrap Npower as it fails to render the desired benefits.

Nigerian Union Of Teacher's President, Nasir Idris, said this at the 2019 solemn assembly of the union held annually to begin the year by its members.

He said that there is an urgent need to recruit more teachers into our schools on a permanent basis as against the N-Power teaching program, which does not render the desired benefits and should be discontinued.

He claimed that there are qualified teachers that are waiting to be employed. That is why we want government to stop that one (N-Power) let them recruit qualified teachers to manage our schools.
