Nigeria Immigration Service speaks on recruitment

3/28/2019 12:52:00 PM

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) on Thursday debunked reports that it was recruiting.

NIS Comptroller-General, Mr Muhammad Babandede said this in a statement issued in Abuja on Thursday and signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Service, Mr Sunday James.

He said “The attention of the Comptroller General of Immigration, Mr Muhammad Babandede, has been drawn to a fake dedicated website,www.nisrecruitment.com.ng, where unsuspecting members of the public are required to make payment for accessing application forms for recruitment into the Nigeria Immigration Service.

“I wish to state that the service is not recruiting and has not engaged any agent or vendor to do so on its behalf.

“The public is to note that the said website and the application process is fake and entirely the handiwork of fraudsters.

“The service is using this medium to advise the public to disregard the said exercise and to also be wary of such fraudulent adverts as all official correspondence on the service are done through the official website: www.immigration.gov.ng,” he said.

FERMA Engages 14, 000 Youths On Row- ROWMIP

3/28/2019 06:33:00 AM

The Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) has engaged 14,000 youths on its on-going nationwide project, themed Right of Way Maintenance Intervention Programme (ROW MIP). It was an initiative that was born out of the need to tackle some of the black/bad spots on the nation’s highways that has afforded hoodlums to operate unfazed and caused several mishaps to road users.

The Right of Way is 40meters from the center line. It includes the carriageway, road shoulders and Verges.

This initiative which has elicited positive feedbacks from stakeholders, is in consonance with the Agency’s mandate and the Federal Government’s drive to gainfully occupy the nation’s teaming youth populace. The intervention centers on vegetation control, cutting of over- hanging tree branches to aid vehicular visibility, de-silting of silted/blocked drains and carriageways as well as carting away of refuse dumped on road shoulders. It has garnered momentum and cuts across every state of the nation.

Being in its first phase, a maximum of Fourteen Thousand (14, 000) Youths living around the road corridors identified for the intervention have been engaged. Thus, making it a singular government’s project that is taking these number of participants in its wake. The participants are viewed as partners with FERMA in ensuring the accomplishment of an aspect of the Agency’s mandate.

One might wonder what differentiates this particular programme from the others in the past. It then becomes noteworthy to state that the implementation strategy is different from the usual because ROW MIP is labour intensive, designed with a target to provide a sort of safety net for the youths. It is more economical as the usual practice of contracting these sort of jobs have been eliminated. The programme has also encouraged some level of heightened economic activities in and around the areas where jobs are on-going. Beneficiaries get paid through their personal bank accounts thereby imbibing banking culture.

At the successful completion of the first phase of the intervention programme, it is the goal of the Agency to embark on a second phase. Though, this will depend largely on availability of funds.

Deputy Director (Information)

3/02/2019 10:49:00 AM

Afolabi Imoukhuede is the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the President on Job Creation and Youth Employment in the Office of the Vice President. An Accountant by profession, he is an experienced International Development consultant with sector focus in construction, real estate and small business development. He is also a certified Project Management and Human Capital consultant with particular emphasis on Technical, Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

He is initiator and champion of SkillUp initiative, an Industry-Backed Technical Skills Competency Development solution designed to mitigate current dearth of skilled and competent technicians in the various industries by developing competent enterprise builders and wealth creators.

Prior to this, he was the Deputy Team Leader/Intervention Lead with the UK Department for International Development DFlD/GEMSZ programme with sector focus on stimulating Growth and Employment in the Construction and Real Estate. At GEMSZ, Afolabi championed the delivery of affordable housing for the lower and lower-middle income earners in Lagos state through the Private Public Partnership (PPP) procurement methodology.

Mr. lmoukhuede is a well-sought-out Speaker on issues of National Development particularly as it relates to Education for Employment, Job Creation, Skills Development, Economic inclusion and Affordable Housing.

His role as SSA-P on Job Creation/Youth Employment is to coordinate and champion the job creation strategies, plans and interventions linking them up to our relevant institutions at all levels of Nigerian Federating constituents – federal, state and local governments. Rather than seek to build a fiefdom as has always being the norm in our recent history of prior federal government  social interventions, his office seeks and indeed builds constructive and sustainable collaborating engagements and partnerships with constitutionally instituted organs of Government both MDAs and Industry sector standard bearers and champions.

No date for printing of examination notification slip for JAMB candidates.

3/01/2019 01:51:00 AM
The Head, Media and Information of the board, Dr Fabian Benjamin, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Lagos.
The registration of candidates for the all Computer Based Test (CBT) commenced on Feb. 10 and terminated on Feb. 21.
According to him, registration was a huge success, adding that there were no hitches at all across the various accredited registration centres nationwide.
The JAMB spokesman also dismissed rumours in some quarters that candidates could start printing their examination notification slip from March 2.
He said, “This is misleading and absolutely not correct.
“The examination slips are usually printed, two weeks to the main examination, but that is only after when the examination date has been fixed.
“There is no way anybody can print examination notification slip when the examination date, itself, has not been fixed.”
He, urged candidates and other stakeholders to remain calm, reassuring them that the board would make announcement and proper sensitisation about the date for the examination and printing of examination.
