N-Power: Any form requesting an applicant’s PVC details is fraudulent

1/21/2019 01:45:00 PM
The National Social Investment Office (NSIO) says any of its programmes’ forms requesting information about an applicant’s  permanent voter card (PVC) is fraudulent.

This is coming after the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) alleged that there is a plan to involve beneficiaries of the federal government’s N-Power scheme in the forthcoming elections.

In a statement on Sunday, Maryam Uwais, special adviser to the president on social investment, said none of its progammes makes use of the form in question.

“Any Form that requests for information relating to political affiliation, PVC of applicants in the name of any of NSIO programmes or prescribes payment of application fees is either fraudulent or mischievous and should be ignored. Such Form(s) could only have been issued by fraudsters or mischief-makers who are intent on discrediting the Social Investment Programmes, which are obviously benefitting the masses,” the statement read.

“The State Focal Persons in each State, with whom we collaborate on the programmes, are appointed by their Governors, irrespective of political affiliation. They can attest to the non-partisan nature in which the programmes have been implemented so far, as can the beneficiaries.

“The Leadership of this Administration has directed that any social investments in Nigerian citizens must be devoid of any political, ethnic or religious colouration. Consequently, the National Social Investments Office rejects the notion or inference that the processes under the National Social Investment Programmes are partisan. Any individual purporting to enlist applicants on the basis of political affiliation or PVC information should therefore be promptly reported to the local law enforcement agency.”

She added that all applications for the N-Power are submitted online at www.npower.gov.ng, and pre-selection is done using computer algorithms designed to ensure gender balance and inclusion of physically challenged applicants in the selection.

“A physical verification exercise of selected applicants is conducted in States across the country (after the completion of the objective online selection process), in order to authenticate applicants’ identity, relevant credentials, employment status and residency in the respective Local Government Area or State,” the statement read.

By Onyema Godwin

Addressing the PDP Campaign Rally for Ikwerre Local Government Area on Monday at Omagwa, the governor said that the N-power list is concocted to favour APC with a view to rigging the 2019 General Elections.

He said: “I hear INEC wants to use N-power personnel as ad-hoc staff for the elections.  This is a ploy to rig the elections.

“N-power personnel will not be allowed to serve as INEC Ad-Hoc Staff in Rivers State.  If you bring them, we will chase them away”.

Wike said all Nigerians should share in the blame of allowing a man without knowledge of the economy to emerge as president of the country.

“The mass unemployment across the country is due to the emergence of Buhari. All Nigerians should share in the blame for their suffering.

“We took our future and mandate and handed over to people who don’t understand job creation “, the governor lamented charging the people to vote for the PDP Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar for his understanding of the economy and ability to create jobs.

INEC recruiting N-Power beneficiaries as adhoc staff, CUPP alleges

1/20/2019 12:36:00 PM

Olalekan Adetayo, Abuja

Opposition political parties on the platform of the Coalition of United Political Parties on Sunday raised the alarm on alleged plan by the Independent National Electoral Commission to compromise the forthcoming general elections.

They accused the electoral body of recruiting beneficiaries of the present administration’s N-Power programme as ad hoc staff for the general election.

The coalition’s first national spokesperson, Imo Ugochinyere, made the allegation in a statement made available to journalists in Abuja.

Ugochinyere said, “The President wants to use the beneficiaries of their failed N-Power programme to technically rig the election.

“The INEC Chairman should ensure the credibility which he promised Nigerians by making sure that no N-Power beneficiary is recruited as ad hoc staff in the election because it is clear that these so-called beneficiaries are going to be used by President Buhari and his APC cohorts to rig the elections.”

The coalition’s spokesman claimed that the present administration has failed Nigerians and it is clear to government officials that they will lose the election in a free and fair contest.

This, he said, was why they are adopting all manner of ploys to rig the elections.

He added that information available to the CUPP indicated that Mrs Amina Zakari, believed to be a relative of the President would be in charge of the recruitment and training of the wards/local government areas/state collation and returning officers.

“We have just been informed from a very reliable source that Amina Zakari will be in charge of the recruitment and training of the Ward/LGA/State Collation and returning officers.

“This is an obvious effort by Amina Zakari to influence and manipulate the conduct of the 2019 elections,” he said.

Facebook groups 👉 Important Updates to How Members are Invited to Your Group

1/16/2019 05:47:00 AM
We're making some updates to how members are invited to your group, and we wanted to share these changes with you. To help ensure people join Facebook Groups that are relevant and meaningful to them, you'll see the following changes:

Updated Group Invitation — Now, when people are invited to a group, they can accept or decline the invite. Before, people could be added to groups by friends who thought they might be interested in them, and they’d immediately become a member. Some people may have been added to your group, but have never visited it.
Invited Section — In the next few weeks, people who've been added to your group — but have never visited it — will appear in the Invited section of your Members list, which only admins and moderators can view. They won't be considered a member until they accept their invite. This means they will no longer be included in your group's total member count, so you may see a decrease in your group’s total member count.
Reminder Notification — Because you're an admin, in the next few weeks you'll be able to send one notification to invited people to remind them to accept or decline the invite to your group.
Thank you for being a community leader.

Thanks,
The Facebook Groups Team
